IllustrationA good cap and a good tee should get better with age, not fall apart. Here's how we care for ours.
Embroidered cotton caps
Unstructured cotton caps are easy to care for. The embroidery is the part to protect.
- Spot clean first. Most marks come out with a damp cloth and a drop of mild detergent. Dab, don't scrub.
- Hand wash when it needs more. Use cool water and a little gentle detergent. Use a soft toothbrush on the sweatband and around the embroidery.
- Rinse and press, don't wring. Squeeze out the water gently, then pat it with a towel.
- Air dry in shape. Set it over a bowl, a rolled towel or a coffee can so the crown keeps its shape. Keep it out of direct heat.
- Skip the dryer. Heat can shrink cotton and pucker embroidery.
Garment-dyed heavyweight tees
Our Jaffa Arches Tee is garment-dyed, which is what gives it that soft, lived-in color. A little color variation and gentle fading over time are part of the look.
- Turn it inside out. This protects the print on the back.
- Wash cold with similar colors. Especially the first few washes.
- Tumble dry low or hang dry. Hang drying keeps the fit and the print looking newer for longer.
- Iron inside out if you need to. Never iron directly on the print.
How they fit
- Caps: unstructured dad caps with a soft crown that sits a little lower, and an adjustable strap at the back.
- Tees: relaxed fit. If you're between sizes, size down for a closer fit or stay true to size for that easy, boxy look.
